Warriors secure second win of the season against Kalev Rugby Club

For their second game of the season, Warriors Rugby Club travelled to Estonia for a clash against Kalev Rugby Club. Last season Warriors were the only travelling team to come back with victory, and this year their only intention was to repeat last year's result. Since Kalev Stadium was not available due to the Tallinn Song and Dance Festival, the clash took place outside of Tallinn in the idyllic countryside town of Kernu. Warriors would like to thank Kalev for organising the logistics to and from the venue for the visitors.

The travellers had a slow start and conceded two tries to the hosts. Still, Warriors did not bow their heads but kept fighting using effective pods with the forwards and well-executed back moves. The score was evenly tied until late in the second half when Warriors finally broke the dam and cruised to victory after hosts were given a yellow card.

"We were struggling early in the game. Kalev played well and exploited our poor start. Obviously having a poor start to the game is worrying but we were able to turn the game around and played quite well later in the game. And to walk away with a bonus-point win is a great result," explains Warriors captain Thomas Finell after the match.

"We still have a lot to do in order to play at a level we want to be at, but we are getting there. A big positive for us is also the squad size for this year, which makes the competition for game time quite tough," continues Finell.

The game ended with a bonus-point win to Warriors with 15-26 being the final score. Warriors will face Championship newcomers Turku Rugby Club next Saturday.
