Semifinals: Men got to the finals, ladies start their off-season
By Satu Raudasoja
Sat 19.9. Warriors men won against Jyväskylä 23-20, Warriors ladies lost against Tampere 12-28.
Our ladies played their last game of the 15's season last Saturday. In the ladies semifinals Tampere ladies played well and managed to do several tries against us. One try was done by good mauling - something that does not happen often in Finland, in women's games. Warriors scored twice: once by Elisa Salonen (from Pori Lollers) and once by Kyle Vikström. Kyle kicked also the conversion kick.
Everyone worked hard and did their best. Warriors were giving a lot of pressure to Tampere women. Unfortunately we couldn't finish our good work in tries. It's been great to see how players have been developing during the 15's season. The game was good, refereeing best of the season and both sides played hard & with good rugby spirit.
What now then, after the last game of the season? Ladies will have a break of training, and on Tuesday 22.9. there will be no training. On Thursday 24.9. ladies continue with some other sports and fun stuff their off-season activities / training sessions. Jim Wetterström, who has been the coach for three years for the ladies, won't continue anymore as a coach, but instead Satu Raudasoja will be coaching the team during the winter 7's season. Ladies will start their official rugby training sessions again in the beginning of November, with a beginners course.
